Hottest 100s and 1000s

The show that reviews every song deemed hot enough to be part of the triple j Hottest 100

Since 1993, the Hottest 100 has been the largest annual music poll in the world. Countless acts have graced the chart, from Dido to Depeche Mode. We're going to talk about all of them. Hottest 100s and 1000s is a Sydney-based podcast hosted by longtime friends Adam Buncher, Andrew McDonald, David James Young and Nathan Harrison. They look back at every Hottest 100; and every song that has been deemed hot enough to be a part of it over the course of 20+ years.

On the outskirts of the top ten of the hottest 100 of 1998, there are still many undiscovered lands and customs. Punks with imaginary girlfriends. Subterranean interpretations of the torah. Sissy punk rockers turned serious songwriters. And walls of death. Always walls of death. We think this episode is VERY NICE. But we can handle criticism.

We have a lot of fun on this podcast, but sometimes the triple j hottest 100 reminds us of how rough it was back in 1998: cartoon children running wild over even the best of hip hop tracks, a rampant bass epidemic, impending banjo-related financial crises. We were really on a knife's edge- and perhaps we would have slipped if not for a couple of new wave time travellers (dun-dun).

You get this will make sense once you've heard the ep, right?

Our four digital champions once again face the digital challenges posed by the triple j hottest 100 of 1998 (only semi-digital at best); including keeping agony and irony fresh, fixing up some sartorial nomenclature and giving some Australian comedians tips on how they could cover a heartfelt Aussie classic. It's been one big week.
